Luncheon Meeting Minutes
July 9, 2008
The Lyndon Area Business Association luncheon meeting was held at Lyndon City Hall, 515 Wood Road, Louisville, KY 40222. A total of 55 attendees were present. (Original sign-in sheet on file at LABA office.)
Dave Austin-LABA President opened the meeting and welcomed everyone and thanked them for their participation for such a great turn out. Smoketown USA was recognized for catering the luncheon. Bruster’s Real Ice Cream also provided ice cream cake.
Dave thanked everyone for their support of the Lyndon Area Fair. Several improvements were made this year and it was very well attended.
All attendees introduced themselves and their business.
Mike Lorenzen-LABA Vice-President recognized several new members including: Remarkable Interiors & Gifts, SMABA, Symbion Marketing LLC, White Tulip Studio, DeMarie Designs & Greg Lile, Realtor-Semonin Realtors.
Mike also announced our Blood Drive is scheduled for Monday, July 21st from 2-8PM at the Lyndon Fire Department, 8126 New LaGrange Road. Please plan to participate.

Mike introduced David Bingham & Laurie Young with Business First. As a partnership with LABA, all members will receive a complimentary 4-week subscription. If they choose to continue their subscription, the rate will be discounted from $89 to $69. They also discussed the Business Connections of Lyndon, which is a special advertisement opportunity for LABA members. Dave introduced today’s guest speakers, Metro Council Members Julie Raque Adams, Ken Fleming & Glen Stuckel. Some of the highlights from their areas include:
On Friday, July 11 at 8:30 p.m. join Councilman Stuckel and others for District 17 Night at the Urban Astronomy Center in E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. If the weather cooperates, visitors should be able to see Saturn, Jupiter and the moon as you’ve never seen them before. The next District 17 Public Meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 29 at Republic Bank, 9600 Brownsboro Road. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. LABA will be represented and share association information with the group.
Mike thanked the Metro Council Members for speaking to the group and provided them with a thank you gift.
Cathy Robertson, LABA Executive Director explained that LABA has been approved for a $3000 grant from Metro Louisville for the 2008-09 fiscal year. Several other business associations were not awarded funding. LABA is very fortunate to be included.
Mike conducted today’s door prize drawings. We have 4 “fun in the sun” bags donated by Costco. Included is sunscreen from KY Farm Bureau, Hand Sanitizer from UPS, and Bottled Water from Park Community Credit Union & Ink pens/markers from Office Depot.
